The Adamović Palace

The Adamović Palace. It was built in 1911, as the first three-story building with two entrances, shops on the ground level and a large, luxury apartments on the floors. The façade reflects the strong influence of Hungarian secession.
About this place
The Adamović palace stands on Trg mladenaca in Novi Sad, the square that carried the name of Woodrow Wilson between the wars. Aleksandar Saša Adamović, a Novi Sad wine grower and merchant who had studied wine making in Klosterneuburg and Montpellier and ran the Fruškogorac sparkling wine works, had it built in 1911 as a combined business and residential building. It belongs to the small group of Secession buildings in the city and was designed by the architects Géza Kocka and Gyula Wagner. Postcards of it are captioned Adamovits palota and dated 1912 to 1915, while Serbian sources give 1911 as the year of building.
