The Raid
1942
There are several estimates of the number of victims of raids in the southern Bačka, and military statistics from 1944, according to which 3,340 people, including 1,238 women, children and old people, were shot in the head, are probably accurate. The majority of the victims were Serbs (2550) and Jews (743). The massacre reached its climax on the third day, when many were shot in front of their houses, others were transported in lorries to the Danube beach and executed there.
