French infantry photographed indoors around a table, in greatcoats and field caps. Poilu was the everyday name for a French infantryman of the First World War. The caption still calls the place Hungary and uses its Hungarian name, although by late 1919 the city was passing to the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes.
