The House of Army (Officer's Home) was projected by Yuray Nikolayevich Schroeter.
About this place
The Officers' House stands on the Belgrade Quay along the Danube in Novi Sad. The army decided to build it in 1923 to a design by Jurij Nikolajevič Šreter, a Russian émigré military engineer; fire damaged the works in 1924, and Aleksandar Šumaher and Mihailo Plavec reworked the project so that the building was completed in 1925 and 1926. It was put up in a classicist manner modelled on the villas of Odesa, with Doric columns, a broad terrace and a triangular pediment. The ceremonial hall on the upper floor held balls, formal dinners and officers' gatherings, and the building is known today as the Dom vojske, the Army House.
